ABOUT AFFETTO

Praised as ‘inspired programmers’ by Metro Magazine, early music ensemble Affetto were formed in 2010 to explore the lesser known chamber music of the Baroque and Renaissance.  The five members of Affetto are all early music specialists, leaders in their respective fields, Kiwis, overseas trained, all playing authentic instruments & all hopelessly passionate about early music.

Affetto has developed a strong following with their Auckland based concert series, at their regular venues such as the resonant Ponsonby Baptist Church, and the picturesque Prayer House in Oratia.  They won Best Musical Production in both the 2011 and 2013 Auckland Fringe Festival.

The Italian word affetto means mood, emotion or affect, and is both the name of the ensemble and the main objective of the players,  to take the audience on a rollercoaster of ups and downs, from plaintive to passionate, from serene to sensual.
